Baking Challah

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup water, heated to 115°F

  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

  • 1 (¼ -ounce) packet active dry yeast (2¼ teaspoons)

  • 6 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 4 large eggs

  • 5 1/2 to 6 cups (745g to 810g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons assorted seeds, such as sesame, fennel, poppy, nigella, and/ or cumin, for garnish

  • Flaky sea salt, for garnish
